About the Parker County Firefighter Benevolent Fund, Inc. (PCFBF)

The PCFBF, Inc. is a Texas Non-profit established in 2009 after the fundraiser for a kidney transplant for Mari Gossett of the Fire Marshal's office and the donor, a Parker County firefighter. During the process of planning the fundraiser, a group of seven people from all over the county established a board of directors and has since been incorporated and granted 501(c)(3) status with the IRS.

So what do our fire departments benefit from? If someday we experience the unfortunate event of an Active Duty or Line of Duty injury, illness or death in Parker County, we will respond as quickly as possible to provide financial assistance to those who mean the most to us, our families. Future plans may extend into our communities that we protect to improve the safety or our citizens.

So why a BBQ Cook-Off? Our county has not had a big event to bring all the fire departments together in quite some time. We wanted to provide an avenue for all of us to fellowship in a non-emergency state. It seems much easier to socialize under a tent with a plate of food rather than just in passing on trips from the grass fire to the tankers. This is also a great opportunity to secure funding while allowing the public a closer look at their fire departments.
